Research indicates that CBD has a positive impact on an important regulatory system in the body known as the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system has been regarded as one of the most important physiological systems in the body, and is involved in establishing, maintaining, and promoting human health. Endocannabinoids (chemical compounds produced naturally by the body), and their receptors, are found all throughout the body, in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells. Throughout your body, these endocannabinoids perform different tasks all with the same goal of maintaining your body’s homeostasis (internal equilibrium). For a lot of scientific information follow Dr. Doug Corrigan.
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a phytocannabinoid that interacts with the body’s own endocannabinoid system to produce a variety of health benefits. Unlike the THC cannabinoid, CBD has no intoxicating properties and therefore does not elicit the “high” associated with marijuana use. Instead, patients report a wealth of improvements to health, with hundreds of studies currently underway to explore its potential uses.
CBD oil consists of CBD that is extracted from industrial hemp or marijuana, and then diluted with a carrier oil to make it easy to consume. The carrier oils typically used are hemp seed oil, MCT oil, and coconut oil. Young Living uses MCT oil (which is obtained from coconut oil), which can also be found in Mindwise. *please check with your doctor if you are allergic to coconut oil. Not everyone allergic to coconut is allergic to MCT oil even though it comes from coconut oil. The Joint & Muscle Rub does not have MCT oil or any coconut oils in it.
****Pay attention to how much CBD helps with inflammation and how inflammation is part of so many issues.
CBD vs HEMP – Distinctive Hemp oil only comes from the seeds of the Cannabis plant, Cannabidiol or CBD oil is extracted from leaves, flowers, and a stalk of the plant.
A distinction is made between hemp and marijuana. Both are strains from theCannabis sativa L. plant, but hemp is usually grown for industrial purposes, while marijuana is cultivated for medicinal and recreational use. Hemp is increasingly grown for medicinal purposes, too. However, these two terms are used interchangeably in the medical literature, which can cause confusion.
Hemp oil can be made from the seeds of any plant in the cannabis family, but it is primarily derived from hemp. The seeds themselves contain as much as 50% of their weight in oil, which is easily extracted. For the most part, these seeds are used for their nutritional value rather than as a medicine. The seeds themselves contain some CBD, but not nearly enough to offer medicinal benefits
Cannabis refers to the Cannabis sativa L plant. The plant contains numerous compounds that have been studied over the years for diverse purposes, mainly medicinal.
Cannabinoids are the most well-studied of these compounds. The other common thing is what is the difference between Hemp Oil and CBD oil. Most CBD oil products have a trace of THC 0.2% to 0.3% or higher – hemp oil normally does not have THC. Even at those small amounts THC will not sufficient for the psychotropic effects but is enough to fail a drug test. YL/Nature’s Ultra has no THC – I have done 2 home drug test and neither tested positive for THC.
Full Spectrum vs Isolate CBD oils- There is significant discussion about isolates versus full-spectrum CBD oils, which contain other compounds in the plant. Full-spectrum products include both CBD and THC. The best way to ensure that there is no THC present and to control purity is to use CBD isolate. However, the terpenes found in essential oils can increase the overall spectrum of a product. By adding Young Living essential oils to Nature’s Ultra CBD products, the product is no longer truly an isolate but a smart spectrum CBD product. This provides the best way to control purity and efficacy.
What is a terpene? any of a large group of volatile unsaturated hydrocarbons found in the essential oils of plants, especially conifers and citrus trees.
Briefly CBD Oil vs CBD Tincture and Production Methods – CBD oil is considered to be one of the most pure forms of CBD, so additional ingredients are not as common as they are in *tinctures. One of the most important CBD oil ingredients is the base oil. Base oils are used in CBD oil products to dilute the CBD, making it easier for the body to digest. Base oils are commonly referred to as “carrier oils”, and are usually a mixture of the following ingredients: Vegetable glycerin (or VG, the most common base) Coconut oil, Hemp seed oil, MCT oil Grapeseed oil and more. I am mentioning the tinctures because if you have been doing any research on CBD oil, you see the word tinctures. Tinctures commonly have ingredients (including essential oils) like herbs, vitamins added, etc for better taste or better results. Nature’s Ultra only uses the base oil (MCT) and then YL pure oils for taste. They are not marked as Tinctures because they don’t have the herbs, vitamins and additional ingredients commonly found in a tincture.
CBD oil is usually produced by using the carbon dioxide or hydrocarbon extraction methods. The carbon dioxide extraction method uses different air pressures and temperatures to extract the cannabinoids and other compounds of the cannabis and hemp plants. The cleanest and purest form of CBD oil is typically obtained through the CO2 extraction method. This is different from the hydrocarbon extraction method, which involves passing cannabis plant material through a solvent to collect cannabinoids and terpenes. (This is how CBD oil with Nature’s Ultra is done – NO solvents Harsh chemicals are never used in our manufacturing process thanks to our proprietary CO2 extraction methods). CBD tinctures are typically made with the ethanol and carbon dioxide extraction methods. However, alcohol extraction is another popular process for creating the CBD in tinctures. The alcohol method usually consists of soaking the plant material in an alcohol base such as ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and tends to be faster in comparison to the CO2 extraction method. Often times, the plant material will be heated beforehand, or “decarboxylated” to enhance potency. (So notice the tincture method makes a “faster” method of creation. With CBD it is slower process (just like with pure essential oils). So now we are going to steer away from Tinctures and stay on track with CBD oil which is the product that is offered by YL/Nature’s Ultra.
How to Use – Although it is typically ingested sublingually, CBD oil can also be applied topically to the skin and you can opt to use the joint and muscle rub salve. NATURES ULTRA is made to be used topically, under the tongue but it is not water soluble and not recommended to be mixed in liquid if you want the full benefits. Because the potency of some CBD oils can be strong, users do not need to take more than two-three teaspoons or dropper-fulls of the substance per day. However, CBD dosing can vary depending on body weight, reasons for use, and more. In addition to sublingual and topical use. Shake the bottle before each use and fill the dropper all the way up. If you choose to use a CBD oil topically, simply apply CBD oil to the area you wish to target. Applying CBD oil on the skin has been shown to reduce symptoms of pain, inflammation, irritation, itchiness, and more. CBD is also a natural antioxidant, and has anti-inflammatory properties, so it is very beneficial for skin care and other similar applications. The Joint and Muscle rub is another option for direct application. We recommend taking your CBD Oil at least once a day, for 30 days, before evaluating your results. Benefits from CBD can be seen faster or slower depending each person’s anatomy. You can increase your strength after each cycle until you’ve reached your desired health goals.
Frequency of Use – This is a product that you would use daily at least every other day and adjust as needed. If you are using for neurological things and other diagnoses, it’s a maintenance, something that has to be used all daily, the topical pain application can be used as needed.
COMMON USES FOR CBD OIL –
Seizures – you have heard this from so many people – will it help seizures – there is so much information and I strongly encourage individuals to do research and make informed decisions:
Cannabis Oil for Seizures – Medical cannabis has anticonvulsant properties. The plant contains 85 different chemical compounds called cannabinoids. The most recognized one in tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), but most of the anticonvulsant properties come from a different chemical in the plant called cannabidiol (CBD).
So, how does CBD help epileptic seizures subside? – These properties work by working on different targets, which are calcium ion channels, glutamate receptor antagonists, sodium ion channels, and the GATA system and receptor agonists, in the brain. Anticonvulsants may affect the neurotransmitters responsible for sending messages or attach themselves to the neurones. This is done to alter the activity of the cell by switching how ions flow into and out of the neurones.
**This information was found at: https://cbd-international.net/cbd-help-epileptic-seizures/
***Initiation of CBD Dosage for Epilepsy
Start with: 0.5 MG CBD per KG body weight. (For example 70 KG = 35 MG CBD) per day. Divided into 2-3 doses distributed throughout the day. Keep this dose for 1-2 Weeks.
Increase the dose every 1-2 weeks, each time by 0.5 MG CBD per KG body weight. Continue this cycle until the following dosage (targets) are achieved (Stop increasing the dose if it is not well tolerated or the seizures have already noticeably declined.)
CBD dose target in treating epilepsy (Children): Target: A daily dose of 2-10 mg CBD per KG body weight. The dose should be divided into 2-3 doses throughout the day.
should be taken in 2-3 doses throughout the day.
Drug Interaction in the Use of CBD in treating Epilepsy – There are also medications that can interfere with CBD, weakening or intensifying the effect. Especially drugs that affect serotonin, dopamine, endorphins. But also drugs that are already targeted directly at the endocannabinoid system and interact with CB1 and CB2 receptors. In the case of epilepsy, the seizure drugs clobazam (Onfi) have a strong interaction with CBD. Therefore, when taking clobazam (Onfi), start with a lower dose of CBD. It is always encouraged to speak to your doctor or pharmacist on drug interactions if you do not feel confident in your personal research. ***This information found at hempoilbenefits.com I encourage anyone looking to manage seizures to please do your research on the product and make an informed decisions. (Also many sites are promoting their products – I ignore product promotion and soak in the information – I know Natures Ultra products with YL oils are pure)
Anxiety and Depression and OCD -Some research and information suggests that since CBD affect certain receptors in the amygdala, a part of the brain that engages our fight-or-flight response, taking CBD can make that region of your brain less excitable. This means that the CBD oil can dampen your response to stress and anxiety.
A lot of people with PTSD are also finding tremendous relief by using CBD to help ease their symptoms. It has allowed them to go about their day and get stuff done without any side effects of laziness that can sometimes happen with THC. CBD shows promise in the treatment of anxiety disorders, according to a report published in the journal Neurotherapeutics in 2015. Looking at results from experimental research, clinical trials, and epidemiological studies, the report’s authors found evidence that CBD may help treat generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. However, the authors caution that human-based research on CBD and anxiety is fairly limited at this point. https://www.verywellhealth.com/cbd-oil-benefits-uses-side-effects-4174562
Autism – Most of the information listed here is obtained from: https://idweeds.com/cbd-autism-treatment/
CBD Impact on Autism CBD treatment regulates emotion and focus. These are very important for the treatment of autism. CBD promotes oxytocin, which is the key to regulating social behavior. The usual prescribed treatment for autism is antipsychotic ‘Big Pharma’ medications. These are not always effective and can have harmful side effects. In contrast, CBD has been proven to not be harmful to our bodies and has virtually no side effects.
Laboratory studies – Researchers from the Stanford University Medical School in 2013 uncovered a major discovery in relation to autism. They found that in people with autism, the endocannabinoid balance is disturbed due a mutated protein. The researchers suggest that if you target specific areas of the endocannabinoid signaling system it may be possible to reverse autism symptoms. Later lab studies focused on the involvement of the endocannabinoid system in autism unilaterally concluded that it does indeed play a crucial role. Research and studies at the University of California confirm CBD’s healing properties when it comes to treating autism. They reached the conclusion that CBD for autism blocks further brain degradation and has neuroprotective properties. One other vital study, performed by Dr. Dario Siniscalco, confirms that CB2 compounds found in cannabis may help ease the pain caused by autism.
CBD oil Dosage for Autism – Especially relevant is that the dosage amount should be in part determined by the severity of the condition. Secondly, you should take the size and age of your child into consideration. Cannabidiol is also safe to experiment with different dosages. According to CBD experts, and scientific reports, it is not possible to overdose with CBD. However, The Pediatric Cannabis Support recommends for starters to go with the low usage dose and increase it gradually.
ADD/ADHD – This follows under the similarities anxiety/depression/autism. Certain compounds in the plant have been shown to have the same effects as a prescribed drug, but without the side effects. As a matter of fact, compounds in cannabis are able to treat even some of those side effects such as insomnia, nausea and vomiting caused by pharmaceutical drugs. CBD activates anti-anxiety, anti-depressant and anti-inflammatory receptors to manage the many of the symptoms of patients with ADD.
Alzheimer and Dementia – There are three main ways CBD oil has been found to improve the health of those suffering from dementia: reducing oxygenation, reducing inflammation, and stimulating and protecting the brain. CBD oil is also believed to reduce the anxiety and stress that may trigger episodes of aggression. When the brain’s immune cells are unable to clear blockages, which are common in dementia, an inflammatory reaction is triggered. This inflammation has been shown to worsen symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. Inflammation is one of the main afflictions CBD oil has been shown to reduce, with a 2017 study reporting that “CBD may be a promising candidate for AD [Alzheimer’s disease] therapy by inhibiting oxidative stress and neuroinflammation”. The inflammation that occurs in the brain due to Alzheimer’s disease also provokes a release of oxygen. As the oxygen levels within the brain cells rise, functions such as memory decrease. As CBD oil is also an antioxidant, it’s been shown to reduce this effect, as reported in a 2010 study on CBD oil and its effect on oxidative stress. The brain cell count in Alzheimer’s patients is often shown to undergo a steady decline, reducing cognitive function and leaving destroyed pathways in their wake. CBD oil has been shown in numerous studies to not only prevent the destruction of brain cells, but promote regrowth, or neurogenesis.
Above information found at cbd oil review.
Chronic Pain- For many people experiencing chronic pain, (CBD) oil has steadily gained popularity as a natural approach to pain relief. A compound found in the marijuana plant, cannabidiol is sometimes touted as an alternative to pain medication in the treatment of common conditions like arthritis and back pain. Much this has to do with the fact that CBD has properties that help reduce inflammation. The use of cannabis for pain relief dates back to ancient China, according to a report published in the journal Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research. It’s thought that CBD oil might help ease chronic pain in part by reducing inflammation. Inflammation around areas of pain/discomfort can be a big contributing factor so by helping reduce the inflammation you can help reduce the paid. If you are looking for the same effects as prescription narcotics, you might be disappointed. If you are looking for some help to help manage the pain, this might be right up your alley!
Information from The Universal Plant.com: Cannabinoids, however, are very well known for their analgesic effect in controlling pain in humans.7 Ask any anesthesiologist and they will agree, activation of the CB1 receptor (cannabinoid receptor 1) will lead to almost immediate alleviation of pain and inflammation.8 This pain reduction can be seen in fibromyalgia patients when treated with cannabis910 and even in cases of intestinal pain with IBS. Cannabinoids like CBD have been shown to alleviate this pain by also activating glycine receptors. Cannabis as a treatment of neuropathic pain is one of the topics with the most substantive collection of studies in the medical literature behind it.12 This study also goes through the effective cannabinoids for neuropathic pain.12 And now, according to some researchers, cannabinoids hold the most potential for providing relief for thousands of sufferers, since nearly all pharmaceutical treatments fall short and have lead researchers to conclude that pharma “treatment options for neuropathic pain have limited efficacy and use is fraught with dose dependent adverse effects.”2
Due to Western medicine’s inability to formulate an effective treatment for neuropathy, many neuropathy sufferers are understandably turning to cannabis, namely hemp’s cannabidiol, as an alternative for pain management. CBD oil looks really promising for nerve pain and neuropathy patients. CBD is probably good alternative treatment for neuropathic pain. CBD may have the ability to lower pain which is linked to its potent effect as an antioxidant and ability to lower inflammation significantly, and quickly. In fact, when put head to head against the other well-known antioxidants alpha-tocopherol (Vitamin E) and ascorbate (Vitamin C), cannabidiol beat out both of them in effectiveness with regards to lowering glutamate toxicity in neurons. My personal opinion there is a difference between, aches, soreness, discomfort and pain. But the description of each is dependent on the person experiencing them, but inflammation plays a factor into each of them.
Buying poor quality CBD oils means not only throwing away your money but it also may have an adverse effect on your health. I’ve read that such supplements are reported to cause adverse side effects, most of which are not directly related to cannabinoids but to other chemicals found in the supplement.
I trust YL’s product and Nature’s Ultra products and I know quality matters.
CBD oils and Medications – It is always recommended to check with your doctor or pharmacist for any potential drug reactions when taking any supplements with medications.
CBD amounts- My bottle says 200mg, 500mg 1000mg – what does this mean?
This is the amount of mg per bottle, not per dosage each label will provide you the mg amount per dose. Start low and go slow – remember to consider weight and needs of use. See their blog for dosage recommendations https://naturesultra.com/blogs/posts/how-much-cbd-oil-should-i-take
Side Effects Are Rare But With Anything Possible: With everything from food to supplements to prescription medications, to hygiene products, skin care products, OTC products there is a possibility of a side effect. My doctor once told me that when they do “studies” on medication if 1 person has a anything (i.e. a sneeze, a cough, an upset stomach, etc etc) then it is marked as a potential side effect. I do look at side effects and keep an eye on things but I personally feel there are more side effects from things like prescription medications, processed foods and OTC products – BUT I like to share this with everyone so that they can do their research and make an informed decision.
Dizziness Or Lightheadedness – It is usually linked to low blood pressure. However, some people usually feel slight dizziness after consumption of CBD oil. Lightheadedness usually resolves on its own, or it can be resolved if you lay down for few minutes. You can also have a cup of tea or coffee or snack on a piece of chocolate.
Low Blood Pressure – If you consume increased dosage of CBD oil, it will result in the mild drop in your blood pressure in some cases. It happens within few minutes of CBD entering the body. It does not happen with all individuals, and you can also expect lightheadedness after the blood pressure drops. Before you consume CBD oil, it’s better to consult your doctor if you have issues regarding the blood pressure, i.e. high or low or if you are consuming the medications to control the blood pressure.
Nausea- Some people experience stomach discomfort when ingesting the CBD oil. However, there is no specific evidence from the scientific research or studies, but people do experience stomach discomfort with the use of CBD oil. It is completely an odd adverse effect because CBD oil is used for relieving nausea and for increasing the appetite. If you experience nausea, it is usually mild and goes away immediately. If you experience such side effect, then try decreasing the dose of CBD oil.
Drowsiness Or Sleepiness – This adverse effect is rarely experienced because the high doses of CBD oil are used for inducing the sleep in people who are suffering from insomnia. CBD oil if consumed in low doses results in relaxation with reduced anxiety and pain, however, at high doses it results in drowsiness. If you find out that you feel sleepiness after consumption of CBD oil, then avoid having it before you operate machinery or drive a car.
Increased Tremors In Patients With Parkinson’s Disease – It’s better to consult a doctor if you are suffering from Parkinson’s disease before you start consuming CBD oil.
According to the research conducted in the past, it was concluded that one of the adverse effects of using CBD oil in high doses is that it increases the muscle tremors in Parkinson’s patients. However, on the other hand, it is said that low doses of CBD oil aids in relieving the tremors linked with the disease. But still, there is ambiguity regarding this topic, due to which it is suggested to consult the medical doctor before you start the consumption of CBD oil.
Headaches- There is a lot of confusion regarding this side effect as CBD oil might or might not result in headaches. It is because the CBD oil is used for the treatment of migraines and headaches.
The next 3 paragraphs to emphasize the point “quality matters”
There are many people who have reported the fact that CBD oil helped them in relieving the headaches. If you experience headaches with the use of CBD oil, then it’s most likely due to the low quality of CBD or addition of solvents in the oil such as Isopropanol or Ethanol.
It is recommended to switch to the high-quality CBD oil which is hemp-based and aids in relieving your headaches.
According to Peloquin on Reddit, he has taken CBD oil for relieving the headaches, but after 3 weeks he experienced worse headaches and figured out that the CBD oil he was using was a cheaper one. Many doctors and scientists consider the use of CBD oil to be completely safe and potent for most individuals, but some people might experience severe adverse effects. Every individual has a unique body metabolism which indicates that most of them will not experience any side effects after the consumption of CBD oil while others might experience minor side effects such as dry mouth, stomach discomfort such as diarrhea or might have dry mouth feeling.
These side effects usually occur due to the impurities present in the low-quality CBD products.
Drug Interactions Of CBD Oil
Apart from the potential side effects of CBD oil, it can also result in some drug interactions and result in interference of the drug metabolism. It is better to consult your doctor before you start taking medications alongside CBD oil.
If you consume CBD oil in high doses, it stops the activity of certain enzymes known as P450 which is found in liver.

It might be more cost effective to begin addressing inflammation issue through other supplements – here are some suggestions:
Inflammation and Oxidation go hand in hand so when trying to help our bodies reduce these we should consider both of them as one. You will also need to learn your body, pay attention to how your body responds to something (always good to keep a journal when trying something). Both are enemies of the optimum wellness of our bodies.
Simple start to an inflammation reducing regimen. Yes you can add many other products, but you need to start slow and keep track to what your body may or many not respond to – working with 2-3 things at a time will make that easier. Yes there are a variety of things to try, but if you try to many at once and do not see results you are looking for you won’t know what is working and what is not, so start slow and add to it as you go giving yourself 2-3 months in between adding a product)
For YL Supplements – The core base to start with would be NINGXIA RED (Product #3042 for the 2 pack) – is a great anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory.
Borrowed from oilogy.org – What makes Young Living’s Ningxia Red so special?
It has balance ingredients for whole body nutrient infusion for wellness. It helps to provide energy supports, It has high anti oxidant properties, It helps to prevent oxidative stress, It supports normal eye health, It contains all amino acid, It provides protein, potassium, zinc, and fiber.
Certified organic – Wolfberry are nightshade, and nightshade causes inflammation. Why we don’t get inflammation from drinking Ningxia Red? Nightshade belongs to a botanical family known as Solonacea which indicates they possess powerful and harmful glycoalkaloids known as belladonna. It was used as an anesthetic for surgery; the ancient Romans used it as a poison. Solanacea also naturally found in the fruits of tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplant and other nightshades to protect themselves from predators. It takes a lot of Solonacea to make someone to be really intoxicated with physical treatment. It takes approximately over 2kg of green potatoes in one meal to make a person feel really sick. Unripe plants contain higher solanine to protect themselves from attacks (fungus, pesticides). Young Living makes sure that they harvest the wolfberries when they’re riped, so the solanine is almost gone. The question is, does Ningxia Red cause inflammation? The wolfberry is a nightshade but at the same time contains polysaccharides, which has been shown to be very different than alkaloids. Polysaccharides enhances human wellness tremendously. Nature is great and complicated. It’s about the chemistry in the plants.

Are there oils that help reduce inflammation – the answer is yes! – Essential Oils that help reduce inflammation: Oils high in carvarol (a phenol) will help. All 4 of these are considered Hot Oils (sensitive to skin) so you want to apply a carrier oil first. You can also make capsules and ingest these: Oregano (15ml Produce # 3605 and Vitality Product # 5594), and Thyme (Product #3650 and Vitality Product #5597) – according to the safety data chart – use with caution if you have HBP (though I know people with HBP and have not had negative reactions when using this but I wanted to bring that to your attention) and Mountain Savory (15ml Product #3590 and Vitality Product #19171) according to the safety data chart avoid during pregnancy. Clove (15ml Product #3524 and Vitality Product #5620) according to the safety data use with caution during pregnancy.
Copaiba (15ml Product #3431 and Vitality #5632) is also an inflammation reducer and is not a hot oil can be applied without a carrier oil (if your skin becomes irritated apply a carrier oil and it will stop the irritation.)
CBD oil – yes it definitely will help reduce inflammation, but it may not be budget friendly, but yes it is an option and you can purchase those by linking your YL account to natures ultra’s site. The joint and muscle rub may be a better solution for many when the discomfort from inflammation is appearing in your joints.
We can use a variety of supplements and oils to help with this (and you will want to learn about your diet too – for most people dairy products are a highly inflammatory food, for those with auto immune issues and inflammation issues, things like root vegetables can also be inflammatory). Processed foods have so many chemicals in them that they can be counter productive for your body. So all these go hand in hand and you will have to keep a journal and watch how your body reacts. Omega 6 fats may cause inflammation for some people. Some examples of foods with Omega 6 that may cause inflammation in certain people: processed snacks, fast foods, cakes, cured meats, tofu, walnuts, and peanut butter. It will take a little time to see what foods are inflammatory to your body.
It is suggested that you will want to try reduce the amount of inflammatory foods while you try to reduce inflammation in your body as you begin to supplement to reduce inflammation. Keep notes for your knowledge and to discuss with your health care professional.
