When Tyler wants a classic Thomas gift pack of $120 worth of trains, you use it as a time to increase chores, for an allowance increase to save $ while incorprating a life skill training. He was not pleased & very resistant, but he did it. So he now takes out trash, helps at grocery store including unloading & putting away groceries and the new chore of washing, drying & folding towels (once he is independent on this skill, I will add his clothes to the responsibility).
